i was bloggin about some incident about a love relationship, and i was pretending to be a love guru, but i realised that i need some real life cases, but i dun have any, so i deleted it all away.
BUT FEAR NOT, i have a new topic at hand.
NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER.
i think its pure, untreated, organic bullshit.
cos i seriously believe in 'judge a book by it cover' and you should too, read on if u dun believe me.
so, if according to that phrase, WHY so many book publisher bother to decorate their book covers? why do they have one after one of 'edition' ?
simply because they believe that people DO judge a book by its cover. but you might say 'but its the content that matters' but have you EVER picked up a book in KINOKUNIYA or the school LIBRARY(i dun go and borrow books from DEYI, cos they books are so acient)
ta dah~~~ once readers picked up the book that looks, i said look, interesting to them the books have passed the first round -the appearence-
then, go on to read the contents, if the content is good, lucky author, if the content sucks. too bad, the author only has no one to blame but herself/himself.
of course there are cases where people read books just because the book is popular. so the appearence doesnt matter, that much.
however, i must say, i do do do do do pick covers when i am buying books, for example, that day i had a sudden urge for reading 'ANGELS AND DEMONS' and this book is forever loaned in the sembawang library. so i had to buy.
it cost 18.90 bucks.
BUT there are 2 different covers, one is much better, cos it has a fresh colour-light blue-, whilst the other one is brown. thus naturally i would choose the light blue one la... but i know, the content is still the same. but fuck it, i paid 18.90 no matter wad covers i get, why not get the better looking one? duh
this theory applies to human world too. why do people bother to dress themselve up, if alot of people thinks 'do not judge a book my its cover' huh? why girls put on so much make ups? why people dye/highlight/rebond/wax/gel/style/curl/spike/do nonsens to their hair? why billabong/roxy/levis/OP(this sucks)/converse/nike/adidas earn so friggin much? because appearence matters, people do judge a book by its cover. to impress, when u impress, u've already passed the first round. the COVER.
take note i didnt say 'wash/clean' cos these are for personal hygiene purposes.
when u are wearing those pretty clothes, people see you as their potential friends. then thats when you interact ppl decide they wanna be your friends or not.
remember me saying about the angels and demons book covers? the same god damn rule applies. people take the same amount of effort to talk to you, and other people. naturally they will talk to the more attractive one right?
thus, people judge a book by its cover. thus everyone, including me. do make themselves more attractive. in appearence. thus u will never see me outside sembawang/yishun without my contact lenses. you will never see me with big, outta control hair (i wear a cap). not like i am a superstar, but still, ya'll
i am not handsome, but i certainly am not ugly. i bother to make myself look good, cos i am vain. and i am proud of it. i bother to style my hair when i go to school(even if i am late) i still wear contacts when i have sore eyes. see, i am a vain pot.
i dun see wad is wrong with being a vain pot. BUT i do not understand why people do not bother to make themselves look better? like wad i always heard, its not a crime to be ugly, but its a crime not to make yourself look good when you can.
that is so so so so true, who ever said it should write more of such phrases and then publish it. then i shall worship it before i sleep everynight.
seriously, why people do not bother to dress themselves up, why people still buy cloths from pasah malam despite others telling them that the quality sucks, it shrinks, it lose its colour. people still buy from there.
if they say they only pay a fraction of the originals(most pasah malams have fake goods like BILLABONG, STUSSY... etc etc etc etc) because they want the design, not the workmanship i jolly well shut up. cos i agree on that.
but if they say CHEAP, then i shall TALK MORE.
heard of the term 'yi fen qian, yi fen huo'? it means, 'quakity comes with a price'
yes, pasah malam goods are cheap, but the shirt original quality will not last long.
not that i am encouraging you people to buy branded goods. but i am just saying, make a wise choice when u buy clothes, dun buy from pasah malam.
oops i think i digress too much.
come to think of it, its because thanks to those people who dun dress up, that makes the people who DOES dress up look attractive, no?
